Metall Zug Group: Infection Control Business Unit Reaches Key Structural Milestones

Zug, February 26, 2019 – The separation of the new Life Science Solutions Business Unit marks the completion of an important phase of restructuring for the Infection Control Business Unit.  Beat Spalinger, current CEO of the Infection Control Business Unit, is stepping down from operational management. Dominik Arnold has been appointed as new CEO of the Infection Control Business Unit.

Beat Spalinger was appointed by the Metall Zug Group at the end of 2014 to reorganize the Belimed Group’s complex, costly structures that had evolved over the years, and realign Belimed to the requirements of the market. The elements of extensive reorganization of the company structures envisaged at the time have been implemented with the separation of the Life Science Business Unit now in progress. A key milestone has now been reached with the appointing of CEOs for the two Business Units, allowing them to focus on the market and further increase their competitiveness.

Dominik Arnold (46) has been appointed CEO and Head of the Infection Control Business Unit and Belimed AG. After a short introductory period, he will take up his new role on May 1, 2019. Dominik Arnold is a biotechnology engineer and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is a Swiss citizen with 20 years of international experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical industries. His most recent position was as Vice President and General Manager of ForteBio in Fremont, California, USA, where he spent three years. ForteBio is part of the Danaher Corporation.

The future CEO and Head of the new Life Science Solutions Business Unit and Belimed Life Science AG has also been appointed and will take up the role on July 1, 2019. His name will be announced in due course.

With the transfer of operational responsibility to Dominik Arnold, Beat Spalinger – who previously performed the dual roles of Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Belimed AG – will focus on his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Belimed AG and member of the Board of Directors of the newly established Belimed Life Science AG. As part of these changes, Metall Zug AG will take over his minority interest in Belimed AG and will again hold 100% of Belimed AG.
